The steps showing how to apply a nicotine patch, once again using Nicorette® as an example, is shown in the video:

1.Select a dry, clean, hairless area of skin to apply the patch. This can be on the upper chest, back, upper arm, or hip. A new site can be chosen each day to help avoid potential skin irritation.

2.Wash your hands before applying the patch.

3.Remove the patch its sachet by cutting along the edge with a pair of scissors. Be careful not to cut the patch itself. The patch should not be cut into smaller pieces.

4.Peel part of the aluminimum backing away. Avoid touching the sticky surface that is exposed.

5.Carefully apply the exposed sticky area to the chosen area of skin. Then peel off the remaining aluminium backing.

6.Press the patch firmly onto the skin and run your fingers along the edge to ensure it sticks firmly.

7.When removing the patch, fold the patch in half and insert it into the opened sachet, then discard it properly.
