The conference sub-themes are set out below. The committee particularly welcomes papers that challenge current research, policy and practice and is happy for contributors to interpret them broadly.
1. Assessing extra-curricular activities for graduate employment outcomes.
In today’s globalised environment, great importance is placed by the industry, governments and international bodies on graduate employability.

- the process of implementation for innovative assessments – from the pilot to the large-scale
3. Assessment in a technology-rich learning environment
Technology-rich environments provide an exciting platform for experimenting with new ways of exploring how students learn and how teachers can best evaluate how well students have mastered materials.

4. Assessing Professional Competencies & Institutional Initiatives
This sub-theme recognises research that investigates assessment for learning at the institutional level, especially efforts for change.
This sub-theme covers practice and research on assessment for:
- teacher performance assessment and evaluation methods and instruments
- assessment systems
- academic standards
- validation and quality in assessment
- policy development for assessment for learning
- grading systems
- provision of feedback with different class types
- development of disciplinary standards between professional bodies and academics.
5. Other Issues in Assessment for Learning
This broad sub-theme relates to challenges in assessment for learning, such as subject-discipline assessment, work-based learning, diversity and inclusivity and many more that are not already covered in the sub-themes above. Where subject discipline issues are addressed, contributors should ensure that their work include both the context of their subject-matter as well as the implications for other disciplines.
